A new Lowes Home Improvement hardware store is scheduled to open its doors to township residents in late November, according to Voorhees representatives.
The new store – which is currently being constructed on Route 73 next to BJ’s Wholesale Club and across from Virtua Voorhees’s new hospital – should open its doors to shopper before the Christmas season starts.
Steve Murray, Construction Official for Voorhees, said the inspection process is about halfway complete and construction for the new store is actually ahead of schedule.
“The building is not yet enclosed to the weather, but they’re moving along very quickly with the construction process,” Murray said. “They’re anticipating an opening in late fall.”
The 169,000-square-foot store will be a boon for the local economy, said Director of Economic Development Michael Marchitto.
A number of new jobs will be created from the new store, he said, and will have to be filled by local residents or people living near Voorhees.
The new jobs and influx of visitors stemming from the store’s opening will bring in more money to the township and uplift surrounding retail areas, Marchitto said.
